Won’t you take me to pita tooowwwnnn…

Standing in Roasters I could see a cafeteria-style eatery through a connecting door.  Staff at the coffee stop endorsed the food, so I thought I’d give it a try.
First impression, owner Eli thinks a lot of his cuisine, asking for an endorsement and shoving to-go menus in my hand even before I received my food.
He’s self-praising for good reason though. Pita and hummus were as good as any, but the chicken shawarma and spices left my taste buds wanting more even after the last bite. Definitely recommend for the food, but Oasis in-store atmosphere is considerably better. Overall judging for food and not ambiance… a solid A.

Is that a bloody monster?

Best Bloody Mary in town? Deadwood.  Atmosphere eclectic, service good, light low, and bar games a-plenty.  Give it a taste, and if you don’t think it’s the best Bloody Mary around… well… you’re just wrong.  :)

Cornbeef and pastrami

image

So its a little out of order, but I was going through my phone photos and I found this one. Living in Iowa there aren’t really any Kosher delis. Met up with Gary during a recent trip to Chicago. I made him Vanna White my cornbeef and pastrami.

Unknown substance

Ahh the day I did 125 pushups. Yes it was a new record, but more notable was the condition in which I did 10 of the pushups. Lisa dared me and so I did it. Can you guess what’s under my nose? The answer might surprise you.

A little fishy

There’s something about dead rotting fish that reminds me of summer. However the location of this fish is curious. How in a body of water where there are no flying fish, is there a fully intact rotting fish carcass on the path above the pond?

My gym is a whore

image

Apparently my gym is not using my dues for capital improvements. Don’t even get me started on the duct taped treadmills… then again, I suppose all the equipment technically functions. Oh well, I’m gonna continue calling my gym a whore until they stop advertising it and fix the sign.

Now them some ribs son!

Woah, so my buddy was makin some ribs a few days ago.  Never heard of it before, but he takes a knife to the rib meat and sticks garlic in the slits he makes.  Pretty brilliant when you think about it.  Add some homemade rub to it and throw it on a grill with a smoker attachment…that’s all you really need to get your mouth watering.  Worst part, I didn’t even get to taste it cause it was Passover.
